Marcon has just completed one of its most significant fit-out projects for global restaurant chain McDonald’s at Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester.

The new 3 storey city centre restaurant opened its doors yesterday and has already proven to be a hit with the Manchester public.

The former Co-op store was completely transformed over a demanding 14 week period.  The unit had to be completely stripped back to the core and major internal alterations had to be carried out to create the new space.  Marcon was responsible for the complete fit-out which included full M&E services, installation of new lifts and stairwells, new shop front, joinery manufacture and all associated fixtures and fittings.

At first glance the swanky city centre branch which was designed by AEW Architects is certainly one of McDonald’s most high-tech restaurants with self-service screens, contactless payment and fixed Samsung tablets for customers to use.

Customers can order their food on self-service interactive screens, pay by card or contactless and collect it from the counter within minutes.

McDonald’s franchisee Roger Khoryati, who owns and operates nine other McDonald’s restaurants across Manchester, said what makes the fast food chain different from their competitors is being a family restaurant and valuing customer service.

He said: “We are a family restaurant and that’s what sets us apart. We are focussing more and more on customer service and have come a long way.

“I’ve wanted to open in Piccadilly Gardens for seven years, it’s a great location. We are thrilled to be opening here.

“The new look restaurants show how we are committed to offering our customers more choice and fast service. Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new tech we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today.”

In addition to the interactive screens, customers can surf the web and play games on the Samsung tablets.

Greater Manchester has received a significant investment boost with the opening of another restaurant in Aston-Under-Lyne in October and a third at Cheetham Hill planned for early next year.

Marcon has completed over 50 individual projects for McDonald’s during 2015 over a wide geographic across the UK and Ireland.
