Marcon staff fundraise for Northern Ireland’s TinyLife Charity
Members of staff at Marcon have raised £500 for local charity TinyLife. The company’s employees raffled off gifts and hampers that they received over the Christmas period to raise the cash for this very worthwhile charity.
Almost 2000 babies spent time in the Neonatal units last year in Northern Ireland. TinyLife are committed to providing a range of support services that meet the growing needs of families of premature and ill babies in Northern Ireland.
TinyLife receives minimal government funding and rely heavily on their own fundraising activities and support of others to enable them to continue with their vital work.
Janet Weir of Marcon commented; “This is a fantastic charity which is very close to my and my family’s hearts. My great-nieces, Gracie and Eva were born at 28 weeks with Gracie weighing 2lb 4 oz and Eva weighing 1lb 11 oz. Gracie got home from the hospital after 3 months but Eva had to have 8 operations and after an 8 month stay in hospital she finally got home to start family life with her sister. TinyLife provided my family with the much-needed support, all the staff and volunteers at the charity do such an amazing job so it’s nice to be able to play a small role in supporting their great work for local families. We were really pleased to have raised this amount which is a credit to all of my colleagues at Marcon.”
The money raised by Marcon’s employees will go towards the support and practical advice they provide for parents whilst their baby is in the neonatal unit and home-based family support for when their baby comes home.
TinyLife’s Community Fundraiser Sarah Wilson says; “We are delighted to receive this wonderful donation from the Marcon team today. The support from Marcon will help us to continue the vital work we do in the local community providing practical and emotional support to families in Northern Ireland. Every day in NI 6 babies are born too soon or too small – just like Gracie and Eva. This donation from Marcon and the support we receive from the community ensures TinyLife can continue to help families like Janet’s.”
Mark McElroy, Marcon concludes; “We are really pleased to have raised this amount for TinyLife which is a credit to all of the employees at Marcon. All the staff and volunteers at the charity do such an amazing job it is nice to play a small role in supporting their great work.”
