Marcon were appointed as Principal contractor for a brand new McDonalds restaurant at Selly Oaks retail Park in Birmingham.

A new restaurant has been created with seating for up to 113 customers and creating around 65 jobs.  The works included conversion of a disused unit. An area of the rear of the existing building had to be demolished.  Reconfiguration works to the carpark and changes to the pedestrian access to Selly Oak Shopping Park were completed to accommodate a dual lane drive-thru to loop around the site.  All works completed within a 17- week programme.

McDonald’s has implemented a major brand refresh, both in terms of its product range and the design and fit-out of its restaurants.   McDonalds Selly Oaks has been completed under their new ‘Convenience of the future’ concept.

The ‘Convenience of the Future’ upgrade programme provides greater speed, efficiency, and choice in how consumers order their food.

The redesign of McDonald’s kitchens and dining areas better integrate digital sales channels, My McDonald’s App, and make smarter use of space,  providing restaurant teams with the technology, equipment, and space to work together more effectively and better manage more complex or personalised orders.

The new scheme at Selly Oaks is expected to create over 65 jobs.  It has been granted a licence to serve late night refreshment to sit-in and takeaway customers from 11pm until 5am throughout the week.
