McDonalds at North Moor Road in Sunderland has re-opened following a major re-vamp completed by Marcon.
The works included the creation of new vehicle access to the site, bringing about positive impacts in terms of traffic management and highway safety at and immediately around the site.
An extra drive thru booth has been provided. When the restaurant was busy, the insufficient drive-thru space frequently caused traffic blockage on North Moor Road. The redesigned drive thru will be able to accommodate an extra eight vehicles, taking the drive thru lane’s capacity up to 22 vehicles.
New patio furniture has been provided and a small extension to allow for additional freezer storage. All materials used for the additional structures matched the existing aesthetic of the building.
Internally the restaurant underwent wider refurbishment works and incorporates the brands alphabet scheme. Staff facilities have been improved and a new delivery collection area with a separate entrance and collection counter has been added. This will prevent delays linked to McDonald’s customers and couriers using the same entrance and collection area
Paul Weedon, senior Project Manager at Marcon said: “The works will improve any layout constraints that previously existed which will help to manage the demand. It will positively improve the operation of the restaurant and experience for customers, McDelivery couriers and staff”.
